Cape Coast, May 11, GNA – Coastal Television, a leading community media outlet in the Cape Coast, has organised a special feast to honour mothers in celebration of this year’s Mother’s Day.
The colourful event, held at the station’s premises in Cape Coast on Sunday evening, brought together dozens of mothers from different communities, market centres and institutions across the metropolis.
The celebration featured music, refreshments, games, and the presentation of assorted gifts to selected mothers in recognition of their sacrifices and contributions to family and national development.
Mrs Gifty Nyomi, Chief Executive Officer of Coastal TV, said the initiative formed part of the station’s corporate social responsibility to appreciate mothers for their dedication, care, and resilience.
She noted that mothers played critical roles in shaping society and deserved to be celebrated and supported at all times to boost their morale.
“Motherhood comes with enormous responsibilities and sacrifices. Today, we want to say a big thank you to all mothers for the love and care they give to their families and communities,” she said.
Mrs Nyomi urged society to continue to respect and empower women, especially mothers, to enable them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Coastal TV for the gesture, describing it as thoughtful and timely.
Madam Efua Nyarko, a trader at the Abura Market, said the event made her feel “appreciated, recognised and loved.”
“I am very happy today. This programme has brought smiles to many mothers, and we thank Coastal TV for remembering us,” she said.
Madam Richlove Amamoo, Head of the Central Regional Department of Gender, applauded women for their continuous efforts in shaping children towards development.
She advised women to encourage themselves and be bold to speak up when their spouses abuse them.
The Department she mentioned was open and available to support women in any way for justice.

Reverend Dr Setri Nyomi, the General Secretary Emeritus of the World Communion of Reformed Churches, praised women and mothers, and called on men to always honour and cherish them.
The event ended with joyous dancing, as participants shared memorable moments together.
The ceremony was climaxed with a health screening and body self care exercise.
Sanford health, Firmer Eye Centre, National Health Insurance Authority, and others were partners of the celebration.
