Wenchi, (Bono), Sept 1, GNA – Mr Andrews Twum, the Headmaster of the Wenchi Methodist “C” Basic School in the Bono Region has appealed for support towards the re-roofing of some classroom blocks of the school.
He explained that a downpour which hit the Wenchi Municipality affected many of the classroom blocks badly.
Mr Twum expressed worry that if nothing was done immediately, the situation would impede effective teaching and learning, as school reopened for the 2027/2027 academic year on September 8, 2026.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Wenchi, Mr Twum said about 168 would not have decent classrooms to learn.
He said that disaster happened on June 2, 2026, adding that floodwaters destroyed seven computers and accessories, a flat screen television set, reading books, and essential teaching and learning materials.
The headmaster said he officially reported it to the Wenchi Municipal Directorate of Education; however, nothing had been done.
Mr Twum appealed to NGOs, philanthropists, faith-based organisations and the Wenchi Municipal Assembly to come to their aid for the re-roofing of the affected classroom blocks.
