Ho, (V/R), Aug. 14, GNA – The 2025 Synod of the Global Evangelical Church has called on the Electoral Commission (EC), political parties, the Security agencies, the media, and all relevant stakeholders to take proactive measures to prevent electoral violence, particularly in areas, where by-elections will be held, in order to protect the country’s peace and stability.
The Synod, which met from August 8 to 10 this year at the Church’s Victory Chapel in Ho-Fiave, issued a communiqué at the close of deliberations on the theme: “Preach Christ and His Second Coming.”
Delegates expressed gratitude to God for sustaining the nation and for the conduct of a successful and peaceful 2024 general election, and emphasised the need for continued vigilance to maintain national harmony during subsequent electoral processes.
The communiqué also reminded the Church and the Christian community that the second coming of Jesus Christ is “sure and imminent,” urging believers to persist in preaching the gospel in the face of increasing moral challenges.
It also extended the Synod’s condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the government, the bereaved families, and the nation over the death of eight officials in the August 6 helicopter crash at Adansi Sikaman.
The Synod urged the government to expedite investigations into the incident and institute measures to avert future occurrences.
The Church further commended the government for its sustained fight against illegal mining (galamsey) and called for unwavering commitment to eliminate the menace, restore the dignity of the environment, and promote sustainable livelihoods.
It lauded recent gains in the appreciation of the Ghana cedi against major foreign currencies, while urging the institution of sound fiscal measures to sustain the progress and make it meaningful to ordinary citizens.
The Synod also appealed to the general public to adopt conscientious waste management practices, particularly in the handling of plastic waste, to safeguard the environment from pollution.
