Accra, Aug. 24, GNA – The Diamondfield Ghana Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA), has announced the establishment of the Adventist College of Health Sciences at Akyem Batabi in the Eastern Region, to expand access to education.
The establishment of the institution also formed part of the Church’s commitment to equipping young people with professional skills and contributing to Ghana’s human resource development, particularly in the health sector.
A statement issued to the Ghana News Agency by the Church, said the college was expected to commence operations in October 2026, and would offer diploma programmes in key areas of health sciences, including Medical Laboratory Technology, Nutrition, and Environmental Health.
It added that the Conference also had plans to establish a College of Education at Asamankese, following the donation of land by Osabarima Adu Darko III, the Chief of Asamankese.
Pastor Dr Seth Nyarko Asare, the President of the Diamondfield Ghana Conference, made the announcements during the 2026 Oda West District Annual Camp Meeting at the Advent Reformed Institute at Kade-Subi in the Eastern Region.
He explained that the proposed College of Education would further strengthen the church’s contribution to education, teacher training and professional development in Ghana.
The Conference President said the Diamondfield Ghana Conference was developing employment and livelihood initiatives aimed at supporting church members, particularly the youth, to acquire practical skills and engage in productive economic activities.
He said the initiatives were also part of broader efforts by the Conference to promote holistic development and improve the livelihoods of church members and people within its communities.
The 2026 Oda West District Annual Camp Meeting brought together church members, ministers and leaders for spiritual growth, fellowship, worship and renewed commitment to the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Among the church leaders who participated in the programme were Pastor Dr Samuel Kwaku Dorgbetor, the Communication Director of the South East Ghana Union Mission (SEGUM), Pastor Prince Omari Kodua, Pastor Emmanuel Asamoah and Pastor Hezekiah Ntoso.
Others included Pastor Isaac Appiah, Pastor Isaac Manu, and Pastor Philip Kwaku Dadzie, the District Pastor and Executive Secretary of the Diamondfield Ghana Conference, who also served as host of the camp meeting.
The organisers expressed gratitude to God for His guidance throughout the programme, describing the camp meeting as an important opportunity for spiritual renewal, fellowship and recommitment to the mission of the church.
Pastor Dr Asare said the various initiatives of the Diamondfield Ghana Conference demonstrated the church’s commitment to holistic development through investments in education, healthcare, skills development and employment opportunities.
He said the Conference would continue to pursue initiatives aimed at improving the lives of church members while contributing to the development of communities and the country.
