Cape Coast, Sept. 15, GNA – Four people were killed in a road crash involving a Toyota Vitz and a DAF bus at Esuehyia Junction, on the Mankessim-Winneba highway on Sunday night.

The victims, comprising three males and a female, were occupants of the Toyota Vitz, with registration number GM 3758-26.

Six occupants of the DAF bus, with registration number SGB 897XB, however, sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Information gathered by the Ghana National Fire Service from one of the bus passengers, indicated that the bus was travelling from Cote d’Ivoire to Nigeria when it crashed into the Toyota Vitz, which was travelling from Accra to Cape Coast.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

The Mankessim Fire Station said it received a distress call at about 22:30 hours and arrived at the scene at 22:59 hours.

The rescue team found the four occupants trapped in the mangled vehicle and extricated them, but they were immediately confirmed dead by personnel of the National Ambulance Service who were also at the scene.

Their bodies were subsequently handed over to the Ghana Police Service.

The Fire Service crew later cleared the debris from the roadway to ensure free movement and access for other road users.
