Saki, June 08, GNA-Residents of the Nmlitsakpo Electoral Area in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality have appealed to government to urgently rehabilitate roads in the area, citing years of deterioration and the difficulties faced during the rainy season.
Mr Isaac Newton Tetteh, Assembly Member for the Nmlitsakpo Electoral Area, said roads linking Kpone Barrier to Adom Herbal Clinic, Bediako Junction, Top 10, Sebrepor and surrounding communities had remained in poor condition for decades.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), he said the deplorable state of the roads posed challenges to motorists, pedestrians, and residents, particularly during heavy rains.
According to him, although residents had received assurances over the years that the roads would be rehabilitated, little progress had been made.
He noted that authorities had announced that the roads had been awarded on contract, but work was yet to commence.
Mr Tetteh said the assembly had undertaken periodic grading, refilling, and gravelling of some sections to improve accessibility, but the roads often deteriorated again after rainfall.

He appealed to the government to expedite work on the roads to improve transportation and economic activities within the area.
The assembly member also advised prospective land buyers to verify land locations before purchasing to avoid acquiring plots situated within waterways or drainage reservations.
He further cautioned residents against discharging sewage into the environment during rainfall, warning that the practice could create public health risks.
Mr Tetteh expressed optimism that when the roads are reconstructed, adequate drainage systems would be incorporated to improve stormwater flow and reduce flooding.
Some commercial drivers who spoke to GNA said the poor road conditions frequently damaged vehicle suspension systems and other components, increasing maintenance costs and affecting their operations.
They appealed to the relevant authorities to address the situation to improve transportation and ease movement within the community.
