Accra, Jan. 9, GNA – The Very Reverend Kwesi Akyin Sekyi-Appiah, the Superintendent Minister, Dansoman Circuit of the Methodist Church, has asked public office holders and all persons in authority to always seek God’s guidance in carrying out their mandate while in office.
He said persons in leadership positions must acknowledged the sovereign rulership and majesty of God and submit to Him to grant them wisdom and understanding to steer their affairs.
The Very Rev. Sekyi-Appiah made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on his 2026 new year message during a church service on the theme, “The word reveals divine light and life.”
He said people in authority must allow themselves to be guided by the light which is the word of God in which they would find wisdom, adding, “persons who find themselves in positions of authority should see that as by divine assignment and not by chance.”
“They are there out of God’s generosity and grace, they came within the permissive will of God so they should be guided by the word, “The Resident Minister pointed out.
He said people need to have personal relationship with God and avoid attending church only on 31st December after which they relapse to their old nature.
The Resident Minister stressed, “When you have truly received Christ as your saviour. You need to understand as the word of God says, it is in Him we move, we live and have our being. “
The Very Rev. Sakyi-Appiah reminded people of high authority in society to bear in mind that a time is coming when they will give an account of their stewardship and should always seek God guidance.
“The ultimate accountability is with God, as for the people, you can lie to us, but you cannot lie to God,” he stated
Father Alex Chandy of the St. Margaret Mary Parish at Dansoman in Accra in a related development, urged leaders of the country to ensure that the peace prevailing in the country is sustained.
He called on Christians to let peacemaking be an integral part of them wherever they find themselves, saying, “Even where there is conflict, as a Christian you must ensure there is peace. “
“As Christians let us share what have with our neighbours who do not have by emulating Christ in our daily living in the new year,” he advised.
