Accra, June 4, GNA – The Diaspora Africa Forum (DAF) Embassy for the African Diaspora is collaborating with Direct Relief to support emergency medical and humanitarian efforts following the Ebola virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The partnership will provide emergency medical assistance valued at approximately US$2.5 million to support affected communities, frontline healthcare workers, and national response teams in high-risk areas of the country.
A statement issued by the DAF Embassy to the Ghana News Agency said the intervention formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the response to the outbreak and help contain the spread of the disease.
The support package from Direct Relief includes personal protective equipment for healthcare workers, diagnostic supplies, and essential medicines.
The DRC has experienced several Ebola outbreaks of the years, with the latest prompting international efforts to protect the vulnerable.
