Agortime-Ziope (VR) June 3, GNA-The Millennium Supporters’ Union of Ghana (MISUGHA), Volta Regional Chapter, has extended a formal invitation to stakeholders for the official launch of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Village Initiative, scheduled for Sunday, June 7,2026.
The leadership of MISUGHA’s Volta Regional Chapter announced that the event would take place at Agotime-Ziope EP basic in the Volta Region at 1300 hours while the initiative forms part of a broader community-based sports and social engagement project aimed at uniting football enthusiasts across the region.
Mr Frank Adzigbli, Regional Secretary of MISUGHA, Volta, indicated that the World Cup Village Initiative seeks to bring football lovers together to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches on giant screens in selected communities within the Volta Region.
“This project is expected to serve as a platform for promoting national unity, youth engagement, peaceful coexistence, and active community participation through sports entertainment during the global football fiesta,” he said.
Mr Adzigbli emphasised that the launch ceremony would officially unveil the remarkable initiative to the people of the Volta Region and beyond, to underscore the union’s commitment to grassroots sports development in the region and beyond.
He explained that the invitation to the public was further addressed to the various district and municipal MISUGHA Chapters across the region and other stakeholders, which highlighted the importance of collective support and participation in making the World Cup Village a success.
“We believe the initiative will create vibrant viewing centers that foster social interaction as well as provide opportunities for young people to engage meaningfully with the beautiful game.”
He explained that the Millennium Supporters’ Union of Ghana has over the years positioned itself as a key player in mobilising football fans and supporting national teams, with the Volta Chapter playing an instrumental role in regional activities.
Further information the Ghana News Agency gathered revealed that, many residents of Agotime-Ziope and surrounding communities are encouraged to turn up in their numbers to witness the launch and support the laudable venture that promised to bring the excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup closer to the doorsteps of Volta Region citizens.
The MISUGHA also stressed that the move would reflect the union’s optimistic spirit and determination to deliver a memorable World Cup experience for football lovers in the region.
