Battor (V/R), June 04, GNA – Madam Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for North Tongu, has joined a stakeholder site inspection of the ongoing Sege–Mepe Road Project.
The inspection formed part of efforts to monitor progress on the strategic infrastructure intervention aimed at improving connectivity and enhancing economic activity along the corridor.
The exercise brought together officials from the Department of Feeder Roads Headquarters in Accra, technical officers from the Ada East District Assembly, traditional authorities, and opinion leaders from Mepe, alongside other stakeholders.
The inspection focused on assessing the status of works, addressing implementation challenges, and strengthening coordination towards timely project completion.
Stakeholders reviewed key aspects of the project and reaffirmed the importance of sustained collaboration among implementing agencies, local authorities, and community leadership to ensure quality delivery and value for money.
Madam Doe commended the technical teams and stakeholders for their cooperation and reiterated the commitment of the North Tongu District Assembly to supporting the successful and timely completion of the project for the benefit of communities along the corridor.
She expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, who also serves as Minister for Foreign Affairs, for their continued support for infrastructure development and socio-economic improvement initiatives in the district.
She noted that the completion of the road would enhance mobility, stimulate local commerce, and contribute significantly to socio-economic development in the affected communities.
Residents and business operators along the Sege–Mepe corridor have lauded the initiative, describing the project as a long-awaited intervention that will significantly ease transportation challenges, reduce travel time, and improve access to markets and social services.
They noted that the improved road network is expected to stimulate local commerce, enhance movement of goods and services, and open up new economic opportunities, thereby contributing to the overall socio-economic transformation of the area.
The contractors on site pledged their commitment to delivering quality work in line with approved technical specifications and timelines.
They assured stakeholders that all necessary measures are being put in place to ensure durability, safety, and value for money, while maintaining close coordination with supervising engineers and relevant authorities throughout the execution of the project.
