Vivo Energy Ghana supports Black Challenge

Accra, June 4, GNA – Vivo Energy Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to sports development and social inclusion by donating an undisclosed amount to the Ghana Amputee National Football Team, the Black Challenge. 

The donation forms part of the company’s Sustainability Week celebration, held on the theme, “Kicking Off for Sustainability,” aimed at promoting sustainable development through investments in people and communities. 

Madam Shirley Tony Kum, who presented the donation on behalf of Vivo Energy Ghana said the company was commended the leadership, players and officials of the Black Challenge for their resilience, determination and outstanding achievements despite the challenges they face. 

They noted that the team’s success story continued to inspire many Ghanaians and served as a powerful example of perseverance, inclusion, and hope. 

She said the company’s decision to support the team was in line with its corporate values and commitment to empowering individuals and communities through meaningful interventions. 

According to her, Vivo Energy Ghana, sustainable development extends beyond environmental stewardship to include investments that positively impact people’s lives and contribute to social progress. 

Mr Ignatius Elletey the General Secretary of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC) received the donation on behalf of the team expressed gratitude to Vivo Energy Ghana for the gesture and recognition of the team’s efforts. 

He described the support as timely and said it would contribute to the team’s preparation and participation in future competitions. 

Mr Elletey noted that partnerships with corporate organisations remained critical to the growth and development of amputee football in Ghana and called on other institutions to emulate the example of Vivo Energy Ghana. 

The Black Challenge has over the years emerged as one of Ghana’s most successful para-sports teams, earning international recognition and inspiring many through its achievements on and off the field.
