Ho, Dec. 16, GNA – Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, has received Tongu Chiefs Union Council leaders to discuss development concerns and congratulate him on his appointment.

The delegation paid a courtesy call on the Regional Minister at the Residency in Ho as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with government and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC).

The team was led by Togbega Kodzi Zoga II, the President of the Tongu Chiefs Union Council, who congratulated Mr Gunu on his assumption of office.

Togbega Kodzi Zoga said the visit was also to engage the Minister on key development challenges confronting the Tongu area. “We have come to congratulate you and to discuss pressing issues affecting our people,” he stated.

He mentioned poor road networks, inadequate water supply, and the need for expansion of health facilities as major concerns requiring urgent attention.

The President proposed that the E-Block facility constructed during the tenure of former President John Dramani Mahama be converted into a Tongu Training College to enhance human resource development.

Mr Gunu thanked the chiefs for their leadership roles and assured them of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council’s commitment, as well as government support, to advance development across the region.

He highlighted ongoing initiatives, including the Volta Economic Corridor Project under the 24-Hour Economy policy and the expansion of irrigation farming, aimed at strengthening livelihoods and boosting local economic growth.
