Abesim (Bono), June 29, GNA – Mr Frank Musah Damtarl, a constituency chairman hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sunyani East area, has rescinded his decision to vie for the chairmanship slot.
Mr Damtarl, also a former Sunyani East Constituency Charmian of the NPP told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Abesim near Sunyani, that although he appeared before the vetting committee, he later decided to withdraw from the race.
“Upon sober reflection I have come to the conclusion that it will be in my own interest and that of my immediate family to withdraw from the race,” he stated.
Mr Damtral alleged that the NPP in the Sunyani East Constituency had been “hijacked by some so-called party bigots doing internal politics for their selfish interest,” a situation he added had made the party unattractive.
Nonetheless, he called on members and supporters of the party to remain calm in the supreme interest of the NPP and the love they had for the former Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s Election 2028 Flagbearer.
Mr Damtarl, popularly known in the political space as ‘chairman Damtarl,’ admonished the delegates in the constituency to look through their voting lenses when they went to polls on July 11 and 12 to choose the constituency executives.
“The right choice must be made and your decision on the ballot paper must be the decision to remove selfish, vindictive, corrupt and divisive leaders”, he advised.
Mr Damtarl added that: “By this you would have succeeded as a delegate in dismantling the evil Empire that has long ruled this our constituency”.
