Sege, Dec. 16, GNA — Mr Richard Kumadoe, a Security and Fraud Prevention Expert, has advised persons being investigated for alleged crimes to exercise restraint in their public utterances and allow due process to take its full course.
Mr Kumadoe told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sege that individuals under investigation must understand the fundamentals of the legal process and refrain from making frivolous or inflammatory statements that could undermine investigations.
He said investigators and prosecutors were trained professionals mandated to ask multiple questions as part of their work, stressing that suspects or persons under investigation did not control the scope or direction of enquiries.
Mr Kumadoe noted that individuals under investigation had the right to remain silent and were under no obligation to respond to questions, adding that exercising that right was often more prudent than making statements that could complicate legal proceedings.
He emphasised that while suspects possessed inherent rights that must be protected, they also bore the responsibility of understanding and appropriately asserting those rights during interrogations.
The security expert cautioned against attempts by some lawyers and public commentators to misrepresent or manipulate established procedural protocols for political or personal gain, describing such actions as regrettable.
He urged the public to remain informed and proactive, rather than attributing unfavourable legal outcomes to systemic failures or blaming investigators and prosecutors for carrying out their lawful duties.
Mr Kumadoe said respect for due process was essential to the administration of justice and the credibility of Ghana’s legal system.
