Dambai (O/R), June 29, GNA – The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the Dambai College of Education (DACE) has held its 13th SRC Week celebration on the theme, “Teachers in Training Today, Leaders Tomorrow.”
The occasion calls on students and teachers to remain disciplined, dedicated, and committed to academic excellence.
The celebration brought together college authorities, lecturers, traditional leaders, students, invited guests and other stakeholders to reflect on the role of teacher education in shaping future leaders and promoting national development.
Addressing participants at the event, Mr Safo Nketia, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Krachi East Municipal Assembly, encouraged the teacher trainees to cultivate discipline, hard work and integrity throughout their academic journey.
He noted that teachers play a crucial role in nation-building and that the future of Ghana’s education system rests largely in the hands of today’s teacher trainees.
Mr Nketia urged the students to take their studies seriously and prepare themselves to become competent, innovative, and responsible educators capable of positively influencing future generations.
“The knowledge, values and skills you acquire today will not only shape your professional careers but also determine the quality of leadership and education our country will enjoy tomorrow,” he said.
The MCE reaffirmed the commitment of the Krachi East Municipal Assembly to supporting educational institutions and initiatives that promote quality teaching and learning within the Municipality.
He said the Assembly recognised education as a critical pillar of development and would continue to collaborate with stakeholders to create an enabling environment for teaching and learning.
A major highlight of the celebration was a colourful cultural durbar featuring captivating performances by students representing various ethnic communities in Ghana.
The performances, which included traditional drumming, dancing and displays of indigenous attire, showcased Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and diversity.
The cultural exhibition promoted national unity, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence among students from different cultural backgrounds while providing an opportunity for participants to appreciate and celebrate the country’s cultural values.
Participants commended the SRC and college management for organising the event, describing it as both educational and entertaining.
The celebration ended with renewed calls for students to embrace leadership, uphold the values of the teaching profession, and contribute meaningfully to national development through quality education and service.
