Sunyani, (Bono), Oct. 20, GNA – The Bono Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS)  has began investigation to unravel the cause of the Sunday October 19, fire outbreak in the Sunyani Municipality which burnt a couple to death.

The police have since retrieved the charred bodies of deceased persons, Nana Siribour Ampofo II, 65 years and a sub-chief at Wenchi and his wife, Grace Yaa Ampofo, 48 years.

They perished when the fire razed their five-bedroom house at the New-Dormaa Mango Grove community in the Municipality.

However, other occupants of the house managed to escape unhurt in the inferno which occurred around 2300 hours during a downpour in parts of the Municipality.

“We discovered the charred bodies in the kitchen and we can’t rule out arson”, the Assistant Divisional Officer Grade One (ADO1) Kwame Adomako, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS told the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

Nonetheless, he added that: “Let’s allow our investigation team to do their work for now”, and urged the public to always call the service emergency line (03520-27129) whenever there was a fire outbreak.
