Tema, May 20, GNA – The Assemblies of God Ghana (AG), Greater Accra East Region, has dedicated a multipurpose regional office complex as a beacon of faith, ministry, and spiritual transformation for generations.Â
The edifice, which is named after the late Revered Simon B. Asore, who served as a Greater Accra East Region Superintendent from the year 1980 to 1986 and General Superintendent from 1986 to 2002, had three conference rooms which were named after other past Greater Accra East Regional Superintendents, including Rev Emmanuel Komla Adri, Rev William Dontoh and Rev George Ayaa Annan.
Reverend Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, delivering a sermon on the theme “Faith of Our Fathers, Emulating Visionary Faith of Nehemiah”, said the Book of Nehemiah highlights the power of visionary faith rooted in prayer and dependence on God.
Rev Wengam identified key elements from the book of Nehemia touching on transformational leadership that serves the organisation and community rather than personal ambition; legacy of rich leadership; sacrificial leadership; and leadership marked by integrity, stressing that effective leadership in the church must be rooted in prayer, discipline, honesty, and service to God rather than personal gain.
According to him, Nehemiah united the people around a common vision and inspired collective action for the restoration of Jerusalem’s lost glory, stressing that the people of God are not sustained by human systems alone but by continual dependence on God; prayer, fasting, and spiritual discernment are presented as essential foundations for effective ministry and leadership.
He cautioned pastors against corruption and materialism, urging them to protect the image and integrity of the Christian ministry, and further challenged church leaders to embrace sacrificial leadership and remain committed to the growth of the church and the advancement of God’s work.
He said the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s walls in only fifty-two days revealed extraordinary faith, determination, and God’s favour despite intense opposition from Sanballat and Tobiah and commended Rev Awintia for fulfilling scriptures and proving that the faith of the fathers was real.
Dr Agness Naa Momo Lartey, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, said the commissioning of a new church edifice for the Assemblies of God Ghana was not only the opening of a magnificent structure but also evidence of visionary leadership, innovation, dedication, resilience, and unwavering faith.

Dr Lartey, who served as the Special Guest of Honour, noted that the success of the project demonstrated that the Lord Himself had established the house, ensuring that the labour invested had not been in vain, and encouraged believers not to grow weary in doing good
She referenced Galatians 6:9 as a reminder that perseverance in faith and service would ultimately bring reward and further praised the courage and determination of the leadership team for overcoming obstacles and taking bold steps to turn their vision into reality.
She said the edifice would facilitate the winning, feeding, nourishing, and protection of souls as Christians prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ.
She expressed pride in seeing the church accomplish what once seemed impossible, affirming that with Christ all things are achievable.

Reverend Andrews N. Awintia, Greater Accra Regional Superintendent of AG, expressed gratitude to God, church leaders, pastors, members, and the project implementation committee for their contributions toward the successful completion of the facility, acknowledging the professionalism, technical expertise, and sacrificial service of the committee led by Dr Deacon Abraham Aguba.
Rev Awintia said the office complex was one of the major visions God placed on his heart when he assumed office as regional superintendent four years ago, emphasising that the project was completed without placing financial burdens on districts and local churches.
He explained that the completion of the office complex formed part of broader efforts aimed at strengthening the region administratively and spiritually, revealing that the region had successfully cleared a legacy debt of more than GHs8 million incurred during the purchase of the Shai Hills Retreat Centre.
He disclosed that over GHs3 million had been invested in missions within the past four years to support church planting, land acquisition for worship centres, and the strengthening of young congregations.
