Accra, August 3, GNA – A new batch of 16 Beauty Queens are ready to compete as the 20th Edition of the TV3 reality show Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) takes off.

The contestants were unveiled at a well-curated gala night held Sunday at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, alongside performances from some of Ghana’s top music talents.

Mentor Season 14 winner, Kweku Shai, set the tone with his soulful single “Pray,” before Adina Thembi and rapper-songwriter Lasmid brought on their infectious energy with back-to-back hit songs from their repertoire.

Celebrated songstress Enam and the legendry Michael Adangba crowned the performances with a pulsating rendition of the GMB 20th Anniversary theme song.

Traditional drums and dance welcomed invited guests as they arrived in radiant, colourful outfits on the red carpet ahead of the main show.

Ms Akorfa Banson, General Manager 3group, speaking at the launch, highlighted the impact of the show which aims to preserve Ghanaian culture and transform young women into change makers.

She said GMB had, over the years, contributed to female empowerment and national development, building the skills and capacity of 232 young Ghanaian women.

To sustain the impact, she said the GMB Foundation and Endowment Fund would be launched to offer two master’s degrees and full scholarships annually to young women, adding that contributions from votes and corporate sponsors will support the initiative.

“The GMB Foundation will run the GMB Endowment Fund under the theme “Lighting the Future of Young Women. We will provide full scholarships to deserving young women. These scholarships are not charity; they are investments with compound returns…

“20 years of GMB has taught us that the most valuable thing we can produce is not just content; it is opportunity. So let us make the next 20 years about lighting the future of young women in Ghana by funding their ambitions,” she said.

Ms Banson thanked stakeholders who have contributed to the success of GMB, and urged collective support the Endowment Fund which could transform lives and communities.

The launch themed “Celebrating 20 Years Of Culture, Grace And Legacy”, recognised past queens, judges, sponsors, and crew members with citations and souvenirs.

The winner of the GMB 20th Edition would receive a new crown, a car, GHC 200,000 cash prize, a gold jewellery set and a scholarship for a master’s programme.
