Dambai (O/R), Dec. 29, GNA – The Oti Region now has a state-of-the-art passport application centre, aimed at simplifying travel procedures for residents in the area.
The modern hub was commissioned Monday, to provide efficient and accessible passport services, reducing the need for lengthy travels to other regions.
Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, explained that the establishment of the Application centre was a mark of determination by the Ministry to decentralise passport service and make it more accessible to citizens across the country.
The Minister urged applicants to desist from the use of intermediaries in passport application process.
Mr Ablakwa indicated that the initiative reflected the Ministry’s commitment for efficient, transparent and citizen-centered service delivery and emphasised the commitment of government in expanding the reach of passport service through the establishment of modern facilities equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Oti Regional Minister, lauded the initiative and said the commissioning of the application centre was not a mere ceremony but a symbol of hope and responsiveness of government to the needs of the citizens.
Mr Nelson Kofi Djabab, the Member of Parliament (MP) of Krachi East constituency, joined others to applaud government for ensuring equity in regional development.
Present at the ceremony were the Regional Coordinating Director, Mr Harry Nii Kwatei Owoo, Heads of security agencies in the region, municipal and district chief executives (MDCEs), members of parliament (MPs), religious leaders, members of traditional council and among others.
