2025 WASSCE starts with Oral English; 1,679 candidates in Ketu North

Dzodze (V/R), Aug. 21, GNA – The 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has commenced nationwide with the Oral English paper, with 1,679 candidates writing in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region. 

The candidates comprised 874 boys and 805 girls from four schools: Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School (DZOSEC), Weta Senior High Technical School (WESTEC), Wovenu Senior High Technical School (WOSET), and Afife Senior High Technical School (ASSETS). 

DZOSEC presented the highest number of candidates, 1,067 in total, while ASSETS had the least, with 55 candidates – 36 boys and 19 girls. 

Mr Prince Agbemenya, Public Relations Officer of the Ketu North Education Directorate, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the examinations began smoothly across all four centres. He urged candidates to study diligently to bring honour to the Municipality and cautioned them against examination malpractice. 

Mr Anthony Ocloo, Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of WESTEC, said the Oral English session was conducted successfully at his centre. 

Some candidates from WESTEC and DZOSEC also described the paper as manageable and expressed optimism about the remaining examinations.
