Tokyo, Aug 13 (RIA Novosti/GNA) – The partnership of Russia and China does not have a bloc or confrontational nature and is not targeting any third state, Russian Ambassador to Japan Nikolay Nozdrev and his Chinese counterpart, Wu Jianghao, said in a joint article titled “Russia and China: Together to New Heights.”
“It is fundamentally important that the partnership between Russia and China is not bloc or confrontational in nature and is not targeting any third countries,” the article read.
The dialogue between Moscow and Beijing relies on fundamental principles, such as “peaceful coexistence, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-interference in each others’ internal affairs, equality and mutual benefits,” the diplomats said.
Russia and China also believe in “the inalienable right of any people to choose its own social structure and development path, as well as to preserve cultural and historical identity and traditional moral values.”
Cooperation between Moscow and Beijing has reached its highest point and is the main stabilizing factor in the modern system of international relations, the diplomats said.
“In a context of growing geopolitical rivalry and international tensions caused by the policies of a number of states operating within the logic of hegemony and neocolonial thinking, cooperation between Moscow and Beijing contributes significantly to regional stability and serves as a key stabilizing factor in the modern system of international relations,” the article stated.
Russia and China have similar positions on key issues of the world order and “consistently uphold the priority of respect by all states for the purposes and principles of the UN Charter,” the authors added.
The Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation was signed on July 16, 2001 by Russian President Vladimir Putin and then-Chinese President Jiang Zemin. The treaty was extended in 2021 and 2026.
