Netanyahu orders humanitarian mission to Colombia after earthquake

Tel Aviv, Aug 13 (RIA Novosti/GNA) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered a humanitarian mission to Colombia to assist the country with recovery efforts after a devastating earthquake, the Israeli leader’s office said in a statement.

“At the request of Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered on Wednesday evening the immediate dispatch of a humanitarian delegation to Colombia for assistance in connection with the earthquake that struck the country,” the office said.

A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck Colombia in the morning of August 10. Its epicenter was in the Choco Department. The tremors were felt across most of Colombia and in neighboring countries.

Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella said the death toll from the quake reached 265, with 3,494 people injured and 496 missing.
