Nkawie (Ash), Aug. 21, GNA – A 42-year-old Fulani herdsman has been remanded into police custody by the Nkawie Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region for allegedly robbing six persons at Nweneso, near Nkawie.

The plea of Haruna Issah was not taken, and he is expected to reappear before the court, presided over by Mr Robert Addo, on September 3, this year.

Police Chief Inspector Ruth Gborson, prosecuting, told the court that the complainants, who were workers of Nananom Ventures at Toase, were attacked by the suspect, a resident of Nweneso Number One, on August 5 at about 9:30 p.m.

She said complainant Francis Agyemang Duah and his colleagues were returning from the Manso area to Toase when they encountered the suspect, who was armed with a pump-action gun.

The prosecution said Issah pointed the gun at them and threatened to shoot if they failed to surrender their money and mobile phones. He and three accomplices, currently at large, allegedly took away three iPhones valued at GH₵6,000 and GH₵50,000 in cash before fleeing into a nearby bush.

A report was later lodged with the Atwima-Foase Police, leading to the arrest of the suspect on August 17 at Atwima-Twedie.

During interrogation, Issah admitted the offence and led police to his room at Nweneso, where the weapon was retrieved.

Prosecution said further investigations are ongoing.
