Kasseh-Ada, May 14, GNA – The Ada East District Health Directorate has launched its 2025 Child Health Promotion Week and African Vaccination Week, indicating its commitment to improving the health and well-being of every child in the area.
The launch held at Kasseh forms part of the Ghana Health Service’s aims of creating awareness of the importance of promoting child health across the country.
Rev. Dr Hubert D.K. Hounkpatin, the Ada East District Director of Health Services, noted that the commemoration was not just a celebration of a milestone, but also a renewed call to action, urging stakeholders to recommit themselves to ensuring that no child was left behind, regardless of their geographical location or socioeconomic status.
“The health of our children is the foundation of our district’s future, and together, we can safeguard it,” he stated.
According to him, the theme “Every Child Deserves a Healthy Future Invest in Your Child, Attend Weighing Regularly” serves as a timely reminder of the collective duty of stakeholders to ensure equitable access to essential child health services and also underscores the crucial role of parents, carers, and community structures in supporting health systems to deliver quality services across all levels.

Dr Hounkpatin disclosed that the directorate has made remarkable progress over the past year in critical child health indicators despite the numerous challenges it faced, stating that routine immunisation coverage improved significantly, with several indicators surpassing national targets in the first quarter of 2025.
These include 108 per cent measles-rubella (MR2) coverage, 113 per cent vitamin A supplementation, 102 per cent newborn postnatal care within 48 hours and 100.1 per cent MR2-linked distribution of long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs).
Ada East has commenced the implementation of the second dose of the Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV2) for children at seven months of age, in line with national policy, complementing the district’s malaria vaccination initiative, which continues to yield promising results.
Mr Kofi Lawer, Secretary to Ada Noryam Kpe, a development-orientated indigenous group chairing the launch, urged parents to change the narrative about child trafficking, abuse, and child labour, notably tagged with the area, and give their children a healthy life for prosperity.
