Essikado Assemblies of God hands over hand-washing facility Rhyner Paul Anglican School

Ngyeresia (W/R), April 28, GNA- The Essikado Assemblies of God Child Development Centre under the Compassion International Ghana assisted project, has handed over a new set of hand-washing facility to the Rhyner Paul Anglican School at Ngyeresia in the Sekondi metropolis. 

The GHc25,000.00 facility has a polytank to ensure regular flow of water for the school children and staff to always wash their hands to maintain personal hygiene and avoid contagious diseases and illnesses. 

Handing over the facility to the school, Reverend Anthonia Edith Aidoo, Resident Pastor of the Assemblies of God Church at Essikado said the gesture formed part of Compassion International’s periodic screening exercise of communities within its catchment area. 

She said many of the diseases and infections in the area, emanated from filth and stressed that hand-washing was one of the ways to prevent the outbreak of diseases and infections. 

Rev. Aidoo advised care givers to spend more time with their children to ensure personal hygiene and urged teachers in the school to ensure proper supervision of the children to put the facility to good use. 

Madam Louisa Brooth, head teacher of the Rhyner Paul Anglican School expressed gratitude to Compassion International for the intervention in the school. 

Madam Brooth assured Compassion International Ghana that the facility would be put to good use. 

She said the school was in dire need of desks and appealed to the NGO to supply the school with desks. 

Mr Gabriel Ato Mensah, Assembly Member for Mpeasem and Ngyeresia, appealed to other benevolent organizations to come to the aid of the school. 

He stressed the importance of the initiative as it would safeguard the school against cholera outbreak. 

Mr Mensah asked the school authorities to ensure proper maintenance of the facility as a source of inspiration to Compassion International to do more projects in the school.  

Madam Joana Rita Yawson a representative from Compassion International asked teachers in the school to guide and supervise the children to use the facility properly to ensure a lasting life span.
