Tamale, April 28, GNA – EMoto Limited, an indigenous electric mobility company involved in the assembly of electric two- and three-wheeler motorcycles in Ghana, has presented tools and equipment to the Dabokpa Technical Institute in Tamale.

The support is to enhance the practical and technical skills of students of the Institute, particularly in the areas of design, manufacturing and assembly of electric two- and three-wheeler motorcycles.

The items, valued at about $5,000, included a 3.5-ton automotive hydraulic two-post lift, digital vernier calipers, a bench grinder, socket spanner set, electric impact wrench, bearing pullers, screwdriver set, ARC welding machine (MMA), MIG welding machine (200A), clamps, vices, multimeter, combination tool set, jaw puller, gloves, goggles and toolboxes.

Mr Samuel Oppong, Chief Technology Officer, and Mr Robert Lawson, Chief Operations Officer of EMoto Limited, jointly presented the items to the authorities of the Institute.

Mr Lawson said the gesture demonstrated the company’s commitment to its partnership with Dabokpa Technical Institute, which included the provision of technical skills development and training to support local electric vehicle manufacturing and assembly.

He said the partnership was designed to build the capacity of students of the Institute and create a pool of skilled labour to support EMoto’s vision of manufacturing and assembling electric vehicles locally.

Mr Lawson said, as part of the partnership, the company would be producing and assembling electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers and, eventually, four-wheelers in the country.

He said beyond vehicle assembly, the partnership would also involve battery assembly, repair and refurbishment, with the long-term goal of ensuring that batteries for electric vehicles were manufactured locally rather than imported.

Mr Lawson said efforts were ongoing to secure space for a battery assembly plant and that the company was also working to establish an AutoCAD laboratory at the Institute to train teachers, who would in turn train students in battery and related technologies.

Mr Adam Baba Iddrisu, Vice Principal of Dabokpa Technical Institute, who received the items on behalf of the Principal, expressed gratitude to EMoto Limited for the support.

He said the items would enhance practical learning and equip students with hands-on skills relevant to industry, and assured the company that the Institute was committed to the success of the partnership, noting that it cherished such collaborations for the benefit of students, teachers and society.
