Hohoe (V/R), May 14, GNA – The Hohoe Municipal Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has held a sensitisation for leaners of the Presbyterian Basic School and drivers of the Hohoe Cooperative Transport Society.
The fora covered topics from prevention of domestic accidents, sanitation, road accidents and tree planting aimed at ensuring a clean environment and reducing casualty on the road.
Mr Hilarius Kofi Gockel, Hohoe Municipal Director, National Disaster Management Organisation disclosed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the sensitisation was a mandate of the organisation which was carried out quarterly.
He said educating the drivers would reduce accidents and other road offences while the learners would also educate their peers and their parents on sanitary communities and prevention of domestic fires.
Mr Gockel said the Organisation would continue to carry out the sensitisation in communities and with other target groups to enable the Municipality to become resilient with regards to environmental issues.
Mr Ephraim Gudu, Secretary, Cooperative Transport Society, said the education was impressive highlighting some preventive measures regarding road accidents.
He said the expectation was that the drivers would adhere to what they learnt to enable them to perform safely on the road.
