Akatsi (V/R), Oct. 31, GNA – The Akatsi South Municipal Assembly has mobilised a total of GH¢1.94 million in Internally Generated Fund (IGF) revenue as of September 2026, representing 73.03 per cent of its annual target.
The amount of GHS1,946,193.92 was realised against a budgeted revenue target of GHS2,665,065.97, leaving a shortfall of approximately GHS718,872.05 as the year approaches its final two months.
Mr Daniel Dagba, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), disclosed this at the Third Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Second Assembly of the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly on Friday.
He said revenue from markets and stores had recorded encouraging performance, with GHS322,702.00 collected against a projected target of GHS350,000.00, representing 92.20 per cent.
Mr Dagba commended Assembly Members, management and staff for their contribution to revenue mobilisation, particularly in the market sector.
He said the Assembly would intensify revenue mobilisation efforts across other revenue sources to strengthen its financial capacity to implement development programmes.
The current performance according to him, followed the Assembly’s strong revenue mobilisation in 2025, when it generated GHS1,643,792.08 against a target of GHS1,399,318.50, representing 117.47 per cent performance.
The previous year’s achievement, he said, was attributed partly to improved market revenue collection and enforcement measures, including enhanced surveillance and the involvement of Assembly Members in revenue mobilisation.
However, Mr Dagba said the current figures indicate that sustaining the gains and broadening revenue collection beyond the market sector remain important challenges, particularly as the Assembly sought to meet its significantly higher 2026 target.
“The Assembly must also demonstrate how improved revenue mobilisation translates into tangible development outcomes, including better roads, water supply, sanitation and other essential services.”
Mr Dagba added that effective financial management, expenditure discipline and transparent reporting would therefore be critical in sustaining public confidence and encouraging residents to meet their tax obligations.
He further said effective revenue mobilisation and prudent financial management were essential to sustaining infrastructure development and improving service delivery.
Mr Dagba also urged stakeholders to maintain their commitment to revenue collection to enable the Assembly to meet its development obligations and respond effectively to the needs of residents.
