Akatsi (V/R), Oct. 31, GNA – The Akatsi South Municipal Assembly has disclosed its ability to reshape several feeder roads and constructed new road links across the Municipality to improve accessibility and facilitate the movement of agricultural produce and other goods.
The interventions, undertaken with the support of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machines, cover several communities, including Dadame, Azame, Dagbamete, Tsieve, Kpevenu, Avadre, Alorkpa, Gefia and Agorveme.
Mr Daniel Dagba, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), disclosed this at the Third Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Second Assembly of the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly.
He said the road works included the reshaping of existing feeder roads and the construction of new links from Ahlepedo to Deve and Gefia to Akplokorpe.
Other roads worked on included the Gefia-Agorveme, Avadre-Alorkpa, Dadame-Azame and Kpodzive-Ahlepedo stretches.
Mr Dagba said the interventions had been made possible through the support of prominent individuals and other stakeholders who provided fuel to facilitate the operation of the machines.
He said the Assembly had also generated GH¢72,000.00 through the hiring of DRIP machines to individuals for use in their respective projects.
Mr Dagba appealed to traditional authorities, citizens and development partners to support efforts to improve the Municipality’s road network.
He said improved road accessibility remained critical to economic activities, particularly the transportation of agricultural produce from farming communities.
