Kadjebi (O/R), Oct. 31, GNA – Lack of quorum delayed the general meeting of the Kadjebi District Assembly on October 30, resulting in a nearly three-hour delay before proceedings commenced.

The meeting, scheduled to begin at 0830 hours, eventually started at 1120 hours with 36 members present.

The meeting was expected to deliberate on the draft 2027 Annual Action Plan, the draft 2027 Composite Budget, the 2027 Revenue Improvement Action Plan and the Fee-Fixing Resolution.

The Assembly has a total membership of 54, while its Standing Orders require two-thirds of members, representing 36, to be present to constitute a quorum for the commencement of business.

Speaking on the development, Mr Philip Obornie, Assembly Member for the Dodo-Amanfrom North Electoral Area, described the situation as unhealthy and detrimental to the development of the district.

He said punctuality and commitment to the Assembly’s business were essential for effective deliberations and the promotion of development across the various electoral areas.

Mr Anthony Ahiable, the Presiding Member (PM), also called for a change in attitude among Assembly Members, stressing the need to prioritise the collective development of the district.

He urged members to attend Assembly meetings punctually and demonstrate greater commitment to their responsibilities, saying the development needs of their respective electoral areas should remain a priority.

He added that regular attendance and active participation in Assembly meetings were crucial for effective decision-making and the overall development of the district.
