Goaso, (Ahafo), Oct. 31, GNA-Mr Joseph Frimpong Naayo, the Acting Ahafo Regional Coordinating Director says unresolved chieftaincy and land disputes remained serious security threats in the region.
He expressed the hope that those security challenges would be addressed to sustain the prevailing peace of the region.
Mr Naayo raised concern when speaking at stakeholders’ engagement meeting on the review of the 2020 National Security Strategy (NSS) at Goaso, the regional capital.
The National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) organised the event, attended by various Heads of Departments and Agencies, government institutions, students as well as civil society organisations and traditional authorities.
Representatives from faith-based organisations and youth groups also attended the day’s event.
Mr Naayo noted that wanton exploitation of the region’s resources and economic potential was also a major concern, describing the engagement as timely and laudable towards addressing the emerging security threats in the region.
Earlier, Mr George Loh, Director, Legal of NSCS, explained that the engagement was necessary and to gather broader inputs into the review of the 2020 NSS, urging the stakeholders to be opened their discussions.
