Akatsi (V/R), Oct. 31, GNA – The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Akatsi South Municipal Command, has intensified fire safety education among students and staff of Avenor Technical Institute to promote fire prevention and responsible safety practices.

The programme focused on educating participants on the causes of fire outbreaks, preventive measures and appropriate responses during fire emergencies.

Mr Joseph Agbefu, Principal of the Institute, and Madam Agnes Yamlome, the Guidance and Counselling Coordinator, expressed appreciation to the GNFS for taking the education to the doorstep of the institution.

They pledged to advocate and promote best fire safety practices among students and staff to sustain a safe learning environment.

The Thursday event was led by Divisional Officer Grade III (DOIII) Victor Kodzo Kudoadzi, Municipal Fire Commander, assisted by Leading Fireman (LFM) Lawrence Senyo Yevu and Leading Firewoman (LFW) Doreen Adade.

Participants were sensitised on the need to handle fire-related incidents with caution and adopt safety measures to minimise the risk of outbreaks within the school environment.

Miss Godsway Agbah, a student at the school, was adjudged the institution’s Fire Safety Ambassador, a recognition expected to encourage student participation in promoting fire prevention and safety awareness.

The exercise also formed part of the GNFS’s efforts to build public awareness and strengthen fire safety consciousness in schools and other institutions.
