Yamfo, (Ahafo), Sept. 14, GNA – The National Cadet Corps Ghana has ended a one-week leadership training camp at Yamfo in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region.
More than 500 cadet personnel drawn from across the country attended the 2026 camp.
According to Mr Nicholas Nii Tettey-Amarteifio, the National Cadet Coordinator, the camp, on the theme: “Truth and honesty,” was aimed at promoting discipline and loyalty.
Speaking at the closing session of the camp at Yamfo, he expressed concern about indiscipline in schools, noting that indiscipline in schools had reached alarming proportions in recent times, saying that the Corps believed that truth and honesty remained the backbone of discipline.
He said the situation now was a major concern for the government and stakeholders, saying that the camp was also designed to instill virtues and moral principles of truth and honesty in the minds of students.
Mr Tettey-Amarteifio said the National Cadet Corps “brings together young people, especially student leaders, and empowers them to promote discipline in their respective schools and society”.
He said that as a youth organisation, the Corps sought to empower, strengthen, and motivate students through education and leadership training at all levels to enable them to uphold truth and honesty.
He said the corps promoted volunteerism and dedication to national service as well, saying that “We believe that with these values and virtues, we can build a strong nation and a better country for all.”
Mr Abraham Fletcher, the Ahafo Regional Director of Education, noted that the camp was a valuable investment in leadership development and institutional excellence.
He reminded the participants that: “The true measure of successful training is not what you have learnt, but what you do with the knowledge you have acquired.”
Mr Fletcher encouraged participants to translate the knowledge, skills, values, and leadership competencies they had acquired into improved performance, stronger institutions, and positive outcomes.
As part of the activities line up, the camp renovated the cookhouse of the Yamfo Anglican Senior High School.
