Berekum, (Bono), Sept. 14, GNA – The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has installed a-20-megavolt-ampere (MVA) transformer to stabilize electricity supply in the Berekum Municipality of the Bono Region.
According to the company, the transformer would curb the intermittent power outages and power fluctuations in parts of the municipality.
Speaking at the commissioning of the transformer at a short ceremony at Berekum, Mr Kofi Atta, the Mechanical Engineer in-charge of Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) at NEDCo said the new transformer was installed to replace the old 10 MVA transformer.
The installation he added would enhance the capacity and efficiency in electricity supply, and urged the people to remain calm, assuring that they would soon access stabilised power supply.
Mr Atta noted that the upgrade would resolve persistent low-voltage and mitigate load shedding as well and thereby improve overall electricity delivery in the municipality.
He said NEDCo engineers were finalising the integration and full energisation of the transformer to guarantee a stable power supply.
Mr Nelson Keyeremeh, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Berekum East Constituency, commended the NEDCo and the government for responding to and addressing the needs of the people in the area.
He said that several electricity transformers had been procured and would soon be installed in deprived communities, saying that a dedicated unit had also been provided to the Berekum Holy Family Hospital to enhance regular power supply.
