PRESEC, Accra Academy to open ASF26 as festival expands with family activities

Accra, July 2, GNA – Organisers of the 2026 All Star Festival (ASF26) have announced that Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC) and Accra Academy will headline the curtain-raiser match for this year’s event, adding a historic schools’ rivalry to the festival’s opening day.

The encounter, scheduled for the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, would set the stage for the two-day festival, which is organised by The BAC Group, on the theme “The ASF26 Experience.”

This year’s edition, slated for July 10-11, 2026, would run daily from 1000 hours to 2200 hours and marks an expansion of the festival into a broader football, business and family-oriented event.

The PRESEC-Accra Academy fixture is expected to rekindle one of Ghana’s most celebrated inter-school football rivalries, a contest that traditionally attracts former students, current pupils and football enthusiasts from across the country.

Organisers said the match was selected to inject excitement into the opening day and provide supporters with a nostalgic and competitive spectacle ahead of the festival’s main activities.

Beyond football, ASF26 will feature a large business and networking convocation, bringing together vendors, entrepreneurs, creatives and stakeholders in the sports industry.

A dedicated children’s play zone has also been introduced as part of efforts to make the festival more family friendly. The area will provide entertainment and recreational activities for children throughout the weekend.

According to organisers, the additions are aimed at transforming the festival into a destination event that combines sport, business, networking and leisure.

More than 10,000 football fans, business executives, entrepreneurs and members of the public are expected to attend the festival.

Food vendors, fashion brands and creative enterprises would also be part of a growing commercial village around the event.

The organisers believe the introduction of the Kids’ Play Zone and Family Day activities will create an environment where parents can enjoy top-level football and entertainment while children participate in supervised recreational activities.

Interest in the event continues to grow, with media accreditation now open to professionals in print, television, radio, online media and photography.

Tickets for the festival remain available to the public, with organisers offering both regular and VIP packages.
