Obuasi (Ash), July 2, GNA – Mr William Kofi Adzowu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi East, has called on Ghanaians to embrace integrity, discipline and patriotism, noting that the country’s development depends on a collective commitment to strong moral values.
He said nation-building was a shared responsibility that required the active involvement of parents, the youth, religious bodies, traditional authorities, public servants and all citizens.
Mr Adzowu made the call during the municipality’s observance of the 2026 National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving at the Freeman Methodist Church and the Obuasi East Central Mosque.
The programme, which brought together religious leaders, traditional authorities and residents, was on the theme: “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want.”
Addressing the gathering, Mr Adzowu said Ghana continued to face challenges, including corruption, indiscipline, moral decadence, environmental degradation and the erosion of cherished national values.
He noted that although governments introduced policies and programmes to drive development, sustainable national progress could only be achieved when citizens demonstrated honesty, accountability and patriotism in their daily lives.
“Our development as a nation is closely linked to the values we uphold as a people,” he said, urging Ghanaians to play their respective roles in building a peaceful and prosperous country.
The MCE advised the youth to stay away from drug abuse and other social vices and rather embrace hard work, discipline and education to secure a better future.

He also appealed to religious organisations, traditional authorities and community leaders to provide mentorship and moral guidance to young people while supporting them through prayer and counselling.
On development initiatives in the municipality, Mr Adzowu said the Assembly remained committed to improving access to quality healthcare through strategic investments in health infrastructure.
He said two health centres had been completed at Domeabra and Ayease to enhance healthcare delivery and reduce pressure on existing facilities.
The Assembly had also constructed modern nurses’ quarters to provide decent accommodation for health workers and established a fully-equipped medical laboratory at Odumasi to strengthen diagnostic services, he added.
Mr Adzowu stressed that resetting national values also required public office holders to honour their commitments and ensure that public resources translated into improved living conditions for the people.
He expressed sympathy to individuals and communities affected by recent flooding in parts of the country and appealed to citizens to support victims as they rebuilt their lives.
The MCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to implementing government policies and collaborating with stakeholders to accelerate sustainable development, improve infrastructure and enhance the quality of life of residents in the municipality.
