Kadjebi (O/R), July 02, GNA – A total of 29 aspirants has successfully gone through the vetting process to contest for 11 executive positions in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Executive Elections in the Buem Constituency of the Oti Region.
Mr Patrick Dzidzornu, the Buem Constituency Research and Elections Officer, disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kadjebi.
He said the vetting exercise, conducted by the Constituency Elections Committee, was peaceful and successful, paving the way for the election scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Mr Dzidzornu explained that the chairmanship and first vice-chairmanship positions are each being contested by two aspirants, while six aspirants are vying for the Second Vice-Chairmanship position, making it one of the keenly contested portfolios.
He said two aspirants are contesting the positions of Constituency Secretary, Communications Officer, Youth Organiser and Treasurer.
According to him, three aspirants are seeking election as Women Organiser and Deputy Secretary, while four candidates are contesting the Constituency Organiser position.
Mr Dzidzornu said the Nasara Coordinator position is the only one being contested unopposed.
He expressed satisfaction with the conduct of aspirants during the vetting process and commended them for their cooperation with the Elections Committee.
Mr Dzidzornu appealed to all contestants and their supporters to conduct issue-based campaigns and refrain from insults, personal attacks, name-calling and the spread of falsehoods.
“We are one political family, and after the elections, we must unite behind those who emerge victorious to strengthen the party ahead of future political activities,” he said.
He urged party delegates to vote for competent, committed and dedicated executives capable of strengthening the party’s structures at the constituency level.
Mr Dzidzornu expressed confidence that the election would be conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner and called on all stakeholders to work together to ensure a peaceful exercise.
He reaffirmed the Elections Committee’s commitment to delivering a credible electoral process that would further promote unity and democracy within the party.
