Let us work collectively to transform our society – MCE urges

By Charles Tawiah, GNA

Abuakwa (Ash) July 02, GNA – Mr. Wisdom Osei Boamah, the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has called for collective efforts of all residents to help transform the socio-economic development of the area.

He pointed out that the government alone could not transform society without the total commitment and full participation of the people in the implementation of policies, programs and projects.

It was, therefore, important for all citizens, irrespective of political, religious, tribal and social status, to come together and work for the common good of society.

Mr. Boamah made the call during the municipal National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving inter-denominational service, held at Abuakwa, in the Municipality.

It was under the theme: “Resetting our Values to Build the Ghana We Want” and was aimed at appreciating God’s protection for the state and the people and praying for His continuous protection and blessings.

Mr Boamah, appealed to the people to collectively commit themselves to the programs and policies of the government and the developmental agenda within the communities to help achieve expected development from the Assembly and the central government.

He also stressed the need for the residents to maintain good sanitation practices as a daily habit besides the monthly exercises, since daily human activities worsened the situation if not the root cause of poor sanitation in the communities.

He mentioned the dumping of refuse into gutters and water bodies as typical human activities that worsened the sanitation situation in the communities and called for attitudinal change to help combat the problem.

He used the occasion to explain some achievements of the Assembly within his first year in office.

They include education and health infrastructure, economy, road construction and electrification as well as social interventions in agriculture, water and sanitation among others.

He pledged his readiness to render transparent, honest and accountable leadership to the people to justify the confidence reposed in him.

Reverend Moses Kenyon, the Head Pastor of the Abuakwa Assemblies of God Church preaching the sermon, commended the government for instituting the day since it created the opportunity for thanksgiving as a divine instruction.

He quoted the book of Deuteronomy 8:10 in the Bible to support the statement and described it as dangerous to be ungrateful to God for life and protection.

“Ungratefulness comes through forgetfulness which dangerously leads to pride and destruction,” he stated.

The program brought together religious and traditional leaders, heads and members of the various security and public services, teachers, students and the public

Prayers were said for national development, prosperity, continuous peace, unity and good leadership.
