Amedzofe, Aug. 22, GNA – Mr Humphrey Dugbazah, a graduand of the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) College of Education, Amedzofe, has emerged as the Valedictorian of the College’s 18th Congregation, recording the institution’s highest-ever Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.93.
Mr Dugbazah, who graduated with First Class Honours, was recognised and awarded for his outstanding academic performance during the congregation, which also commemorated the College’s 80th anniversary of teacher education.
In his valedictory address on August 21, 2026, Mr Dugbazah said the four-year journey at Amedzofe, described as one of the highest human settlements in West Africa, was characterised by academic challenges, discipline and sacrifices, but ultimately produced rewarding results.
“We came to Amedzofe as students. Today we leave as graduates, but we shall forever remain Amecans,” he said, expressing appreciation to his colleagues, lecturers, parents and other stakeholders who supported them throughout their studies.
He recalled that the students faced several challenges, including a prolonged strike by lecturers, early-morning wake-up routines, demanding study schedules, strict disciplinary measures, and the cold weather conditions of Amedzofe.
Mr Dugbazah said despite the difficulties, students supported one another, remained focused on their studies and persevered until they achieved their academic objectives.
He said the College had offered them more than academic knowledge, explaining that their experiences had instilled discipline, strong moral values, resilience, and a sense of responsibility.
The Valedictorian expressed profound appreciation to his parents, particularly his mother, for their sacrifices and support, as well as his siblings, colleagues, lecturers and mentor institution for contributing to his success.
He also acknowledged the College’s management and stakeholders for helping to resolve challenges that could have affected their graduation, saying their interventions had made it possible for the students to successfully complete their programmes.
Quoting British educator Charlotte Mason, Mr Dugbazah said: “Of all the joyous motives of school life, the love of knowledge is the only abiding one.”
He urged his colleagues to carry the lessons and values acquired at Amedzofe into their professional lives and contribute meaningfully to the development of the College and Ghana.
