Winneba (C/R), July 25, GNA – The Osahen Afenyo-Markin Clergy Prayer Warriors, have advocated for the leadership of New Patriotic Party (NPP), to rebuild trust among its members and supporters, and strengthen grassroots structures to regain power in 2028.
“You must also listen carefully to the concerns of ordinary Ghanaians, promote humility, accountability, discipline, and servant leadership, while avoiding unnecessary internal conflicts, to present a united front before the nation,” it said.
The Group noted that the concerns surrounding Chairman Wontumi, had stirred emotions among many party faithful, hence the Church and spiritual leaders were not to inflame passions, spread division, or prejudge matters.
The Osahen Afenyo-Markin Clergy Prayer Warriors made the call in a pastoral message signed by Reverend Father Moses Aaron Kwamina Eduah, the Convener of the warriors, to the NPP and copied to the Ghana News Agency at Winneba.
It said: “Beloved members, supporters, sympathisers and faithful grassroots workers of the NPP, grace, mercy and peace be multiplied unto you through God the Almighty, who rules in the affairs of humanity and grant strength to those who trust in Him.”
“Beloved, let us remember that parties do not win elections merely because they have strong individuals, they win when they have a united family, a clear vision, disciplined structures, and the confidence of the people,” it noted.
The message called on the entire NPP family to a season of prayer and reflection for wisdom for its leadership, peace among members, healing where there was division, strength for those under pressure and divine direction towards the 2028 general elections.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven” (2 Chronicles 7:14), it stated.
“The Scripture reminds us that if a member suffers, all suffer together with him, is honoured all rejoice together with him.” (1 Corinthians 12:26) and as one political family, we must resist the temptation to allow disappointment, anger, suspicion, or internal disagreement to weaken the bond that has sustained the party, through many seasons of struggle and triumph,” it said.
The Group also stated that at the critical moment in the life of the great NPP, the prayer warriors with pastoral concern, spiritual responsibility and patriotic hope, recognised that seasons of difficulty could test the unity, faith, and resolve of the people, adding that such moments could become opportunities for deeper reflection, renewed commitment and stronger solidarity.
It indicated that the history of the party demonstrated that whenever they stood together across regions, generations, factions and personalities emerged stronger and more victorious.
“Conversely, division has often provided opportunities for opponents to gain advantage, and we are calling on all members of the NPP to close their ranks, avoid attacks against one another and refuse to become instruments of confusion.
They should remember that the destiny of the party is greater than the ambition or disappointment of any individual,” it said.
It, therefore, appealed to the NPP leadership to lead with humility, with patience, with a listening ear and with hearts for reconciliation, because “great leadership is tested not only in times of celebration, but also in times of difficulty to build bridges, calm tensions and inspire hope among the ranks and file.”
The message further called on the youth and loyal supporters of the party to remain steadfast, disciplined, hopeful, and continue to work for the unity and future success of the party.
“We declare that this season shall not destroy the NPP but to rise above division, rediscover its unity, reconnect with the people of Ghana, prepare diligently for the future with unity and God’s guidance, victory in 2028 remains possible,” it added.
