Mr Pratt, a newspaper publisher, broadcaster, political analyst, media executive and author, will speak on the theme: “Kwame Nkrumah, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: Perspectives on Constitutionalism, Development and Pan-Africanism.”
The lecture is expected to draw on his extensive knowledge of African history, political movements, journalism, liberation struggles and Pan-African thought.
It will offer participants an opportunity to reflect on the enduring legacy of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President, and his contributions to Africa’s political and socio-economic development.
The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Lecture Series honours Dr Nkrumah for his pivotal role in Africa’s independence movement and his contribution to the establishment of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union (AU).
The series was instituted by UCC in 1974 and inaugurated in November 1976 by the University’s first Chancellor, Dr Archie Casely-Hayford.
The lectures focus on social, economic and political issues affecting Africa and people of African descent across the world.
Since its inception, the series has featured eminent scholars, heads of state, ministers, diplomats and other professionals from across the African continent and beyond.
