Nyinahin Ash July 13, GNA – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) executive positions elections in the Atwima Mponua constituency in the Ashanti region, has been postponed indefinitely after a court injunction was placed on it.
After the party’s arrangements and arrival of aspirants, delegates and other stakeholders at the Nyinahin Catholic Senior High school old site, the chosen venue of the elections on Sunday, July 12, 2026, the Electoral Commission officials mandated to supervise the elections, came to the venue with a copy of the court injunction, hence the postponement.
Explaining the issue to the Ghana News Agency at Nyinahin, Mr. Justice Nkrumah Boateng, the constituency Research and Elections Director of the party, said the injunction dated July 9, 2026, came from a high court in Kumasi.
He said the elections’ committee would wait for 10 days, until the final determination of the matter, as ordered by the court.
According to him, five delegates from Mpasatia Atenansu, Ahenbronum and Bedabour electoral areas, had prayed the court to stop the elections for their alleged prevention from polling station elections, held on May 12 and 17, 2026.
He said the court had also ordered the party to assign Baffour Awuah, Bright Oduro, Kingsley Ofori, Ama Agyeiwaa and Adamu Muntaro and others claiming to have been restrained from the polling station elections with their opportunities to contest.
He stressed the need for law abiding throughout the process particularly with a high court order, and expressed his determination and readiness to obey strictly with his team since it remained the strongest directive for managing the affairs of the party.
He assured the delegates and other stakeholders of a new date after the resolution of the matter and appealed for calm and restraint for amicable resolution and further arrangements.
