Paga (U/E), Sept. 11, GNA – Hajia Halima Sadia Mohammad, a philanthropist, has donated books to the Paga Youth Movement (PAYOM) towards the establishment of a community library in Paga in the Kassena-Nankana West District.

The donation is expected to support PAYOM’s efforts to provide students, young people and other residents with access to educational and reading materials to promote a stronger reading culture.

The books were received on behalf of PAYOM by Mr Desmond Abire, Public Relations Officer (PRO); Ms Samitu Kumoriwo, Treasurer; and Mr Killian Bantiu, a member of the Movement.

Mr Suleman Salifu Zebrim, an educationist and facilitator of the donation, said the gesture was a significant contribution to efforts to promote quality education in Paga and the Kassena-Nankana West District.

He said his facilitation of the donation formed part of his continued commitment to improving education in the area.

“As a professional teacher and a former Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service, Bongo District, I have seen firsthand how lack of adequate learning materials affects teaching and learning, especially in our deprived communities,” he said.

Mr Zebrim said the donation by Hajia Mohammad went beyond the provision of books, describing it as an investment in the future of children, literacy and national development.

“Hajia Halima Sadia Muhammad’s intervention is not just a donation of books, it is an investment in the future of our children, an investment in literacy, and an investment in national development,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the books would help improve children’s reading culture, enhance academic performance and motivate teachers and pupils.

Mr Zebrim commended Hajia Mohammad for her generosity and called on other well-meaning individuals, philanthropists and organisations to emulate her example by supporting educational initiatives in the community.

PAYOM, in a statement signed by its PRO, expressed profound gratitude to Hajia Mohammad for the donation and her commitment to the development of Paga.

It said the books would contribute significantly to its vision of establishing a community library to serve as a lasting resource for learning, reading, research and personal development.

The statement also acknowledged Mr Zebrim for facilitating the donation and connecting the community’s library initiative with the philanthropist.

It appealed to individuals, businesses, institutions, organisations and friends of Paga to support the library initiative with books, furniture, computers, financial assistance and other relevant resources.

“Every book donated is a mind empowered; every contribution is an investment in Paga’s future,” it said.
