Dzodze (V/R), June 19, GNA – Mr Mac-Thompson Gbeti, the Acting Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ketu North Constituency, has led a delegation of polling station executives and electoral area officers to Dzodze Apetepe to commiserate with the family of the late Ms Innocentia Atsufui Avinu, a Level 200 student at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) who was reportedly murdered last week.
The delegation visited the bereaved family to express their condolences, offer words of comfort, and support them during what they described as a deeply painful and traumatic period.
Speaking during the visit, Mr Gbeti extended the sympathies of the party to the family and prayed for strength and consolation for them as they came to terms with the tragic loss.
He also used the opportunity to encourage the family to remain strong and avoid engaging with or relying on unverified reports circulating on social media, cautioning that such information could deepen their pain and emotional distress.
A particularly emotional moment during the visit came when the father of the deceased spoke, expressing a mix of grief and painful reflection.
In a striking statement, he said that if the person responsible for his daughter’s death intended to continue her education at the University of Cape Coast, he wished them well and hoped they would “come out with flying colours,” a remark that left mourners visibly moved.
Mr Gbeti described the father’s words as heartbreaking yet reflective of the family’s deep sorrow and shock, noting that no parent should have to endure such a loss.
He assured the family of continued support and solidarity from the party and urged community members to rally around them in this difficult moment.
The delegation reaffirmed its commitment to standing with the family as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident, while calling for calm and respect for the grieving process.
