Kintampo, (Bono East), Sept. 03, GNA – Mr Isaac Donkor, the Kintampo Municipal Chief Executive in the Bono East Region, has lauded the government for reshaping the bad roads linking farming communities to market centers in the area.
He said the reshaped roads that linked farming communities to market centers in the area had facilitated easy movements of rural dwellers and their economic activities in the municipality.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kintampo, Mr Donkor said that the municipality had also witnessed unprecedented development within the almost two-year administration of President John Dramani Mahama.
Hitherto, the deplorable condition of roads in the area remained a major challenge for the members of these communities.
Mr Donkor mentioned that roads at Soronuase, Portor, Yara, Dawadawa Number Two, Kawampe, Kyeremankrom, Techira, Asantekwaa, New Longoro and Kunsu, had all been reshaped.
He indicated that construction works on Farmers Service Centre and 24-hour market projects were progressing and pledged the assembly’s dedication to complete those projects.
Mr Donkor said together with some key personnel of the assembly, they would soon begin familiarisation visits to the local communities for closer interaction, to identify and address their emerging development needs.
Mr Donkor said the assembly would also extend potable drinking water and electricity to the deprived communities, adding that youth empowerment in agriculture also remained the priority of the assembly and to create more job opportunities for the youth.
He called on members of the communities to remain calm, assuring that the assembly was working hard and putting in place socio-economic interventions to tackle their needs.
Mr Donkor said as part of the government’s efforts to improve access to quality education, the Assembly had constructed a six-unit classroom block with teachers’ quarters and a Water Closet toilet facility at Gulumpe.
A similar facility had also been built at Babatokuma, while the New Lonogoro community had also benefited from a three-unit Kindergarten block, he said.
The Assembly had also procured 681 mono and dual desks to be distributed to some selected basic schools in the area.
Mr Donkor said that the Assembly had constructed a multi-purpose lecture hall, a 300-capacity students’ hostel and accommodation for tutors at the Kintampo College of Health.
Again, the Kintampo Municipal Hospital had also benefited from standard male and female washroom facilities, while the Assembly had installed two new traffic lights at major intersections in the Township.
The Assembly has also completed the construction of the New Longoro Police Station, renovated the Municipal Assembly block, and the official residence of the Municipal Chief Executive.
