Sunyani, (Bono), Sept 03, GNA – The “Sammy Gyamfi Youth Alliance” an emerging youth movement in the Bono Region has condemned what it described as wave of baseless and politically motivated analysis on the financial standing of the Ghana Gold Board Authority.
“We have observed with deep concern the calculated attempt by detractors to manufacture a narrative of failure surrounding the Authority”, the group said in a statement.
A copy of the statement jointly signed by Mr Eric Asante Boadi, its Patron, Mr Ernest Kumi Twene, President and Grace Asantewaa Opoku, the General Secretary was made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani.
It explained that the group was established to support the holistic development of the Bono Region and aided the less privileged in society like orphans and the aged.
“Let it be placed on record that these assertions aren’t only factually inaccurate but are a desperate ploy to undermine the transformative leadership currently steering the organization”, the statement indicated.
It noted that under the leadership of Mr Sammy Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the GoldBod, the Authority had initiated unprecedented reforms designed to secure the nation’s mineral resources and ensure sustainable development for all Ghanaians.
The statement added that the CEO’s tenure has been characterized by fiscal discipline, strategic foresight, and an unwavering commitment to transparency.
“We the Sammy Gyamfi Youth Alliance firmly believe that this campaign is fueled by personal attack toward Sammy Gyamfi rather than a legitimate pursuit of transparency and accountability”, it added.
“This is because the “losses” cited by our critics are a gross misrepresentation of operational investments and long-term capital restructuring efforts, which are necessary for the long-term viability of the gold sector”.
It called on the members of the public to reject “these distorted narratives that seek to tarnish the reputation of the CEO who prioritizes national interest over personal gain”.
The Sammy Gyamfi Youth Alliance remained firmly behind the CEO and would continue to support the current administration’s vision to strengthen the nation’s gold sector and protect the livelihoods of the thousands of workers who rely on the industry.
It urged the media and concerned citizens to demand evidence rather than “fueling the agenda of those whose only goal is to derail the progress of our Gold Boar Authority”, saying that: “We remain vigilant and ready to defend the truth”.
