Accra, June 9, GNA– The sixth edition of the Ghana Poultry Day will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.
The event is being organised by the Agrihouse Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and other stakeholders in the poultry value chain.
The Ghana Poultry Day is expected to feature exhibitions, stakeholder engagements, and activities to create awareness about the benefits of locally produced poultry.
Ms Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, Executive Director and Founder of Agrihouse Foundation, said the annual event sought to promote local poultry production and consumption while advancing policy dialogue in the sector.
She said the programme, which is in its sixth year, would be held on the theme: “Stepping up to feed Ghana through Ghana’s poultry value chain industry,” and would bring together policymakers, farmers, financial institutions, and agribusiness players.
Ms Akosa explained that the initiative also served as a platform to complement government’s agricultural agenda and encourage investment and partnerships in the poultry industry.
Mr John Setor Dumelo, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, said government was implementing measures to increase local poultry production and improve access to Ghanaian chicken.
He said interventions, including support for commercial farmers and ongoing sector programmes, were aimed at increasing supply and making local poultry products more competitive on the market.
Mr Dumelo added that efforts were also underway to strengthen processing capacity and cold storage systems to support the poultry value chain.
He urged Ghanaians to deliberately patronise locally produced chicken to help sustain the industry.
The Deputy Minister noted that increased demand for made-in-Ghana poultry would contribute to reducing imports and improving incomes of local farmers.
