Kumasi, June 19, GNA – What started as a victory celebration for the Black Stars win over Panama in the ongoing 2026 World cup tournament by a group of friends, turned into a sudden grief and wailing, following the collapse and eventual death of a young lawyer among them.
The deceased, identified as Ms Sarah Araba Tettey, 26, who was recently called to the Ghana Bar, and was working with the O & A Legal Consult, was said to have suddenly collapsed during the spontaneous celebrations of the last minute Black Stars goal over Panama, at the Standard Hostel at Bomso, near KNUST in Kumasi, where they were watching the game on Wednesday night.
Friends and colleagues, who were present immediately rushed her to the KNUST Hospital, where medical personnel worked tirelessly to save her life.
Sources at the facility revealed that doctors and emergency responders administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for approximately 45 minutes in an effort to revive her.
Despite the extensive medical intervention, she was unfortunately pronounced dead, shortly afterwards.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the legal community, particularly among her peers from the KNUST Faculty of Law and the Ghana School of Law, where she earned admiration for her dedication, intelligence, and professionalism.
Ms. Tettey, affectionately known among friends and colleagues as ‘Araba Tettey’, had recently been called to the Ghana Bar and was building a promising career with O & A Legal Consult.
Her untimely passing has been described by many as a heartbreaking loss of a bright and talented young legal practitioner whose future held immense promise.
Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, classmates, friends, and members of the wider legal fraternity, many of whom, have expressed profound sorrow over her sudden demise.
Social media platforms have been flooded with messages celebrating her life, character, and achievements while mourning the loss of a young professional whose career was only beginning to flourish.
Her body has since been deposited at the KNUST Medical School Mortuary pending autopsy and funeral arrangements.
As family members, friends, and colleagues come to terms with the devastating loss, the circumstances surrounding her death are yet to be officially communicated by her family and the relevant medical authorities.
The unfortunate incident serves as a sobering reminder of the unpredictability of life and has left many reflecting on the fragility of human existence, even in moments of joy and celebration.
