Sege, Sept. 3, GNA – Six persons have been confirmed dead and three others injured in a road crash involving two commercial vehicles at Sege in the Greater Accra Region.

The crash, which occurred on the morning of Wednesday, September 2, 2026, involved a Ford Transit and a Toyota Hiace commercial vehicle.

While initial reports at the scene suggested a higher number of fatalities, subsequent confirmation by Chief Superintendent Daniel Dan Danladi Yaro, Sege District Police Commander, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), put the death toll at six, with three persons sustaining injuries.

Preliminary information gathered by the GNA indicated that the circumstances leading to the crash had yet to be officially established.

Some eyewitnesses, however, alleged that the driver of the Ford Transit swerved to avoid a motorbike rider who suddenly crossed the road before colliding with the Toyota Hiace, resulting in the casualties.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), National Ambulance Service (NAS) and Ghana Police Service responded to the scene to rescue the injured and transport them to a health facility for medical attention.

The bodies of the deceased were subsequently conveyed to the morgue.

The crash also caused significant vehicular congestion along that stretch of the Sege-Dawa Road as police personnel worked to manage traffic and clear the accident scene.
