Assembly Member commends Roads Minister over clarification on Dzodze-Ehi-Agbozume Road Project

Ehi (V/R), June 19, GNA – The Ministry of Roads and Highways has clarified the status of the Dzodze-Ehi-Agbozume road project and other road works in the Ketu North Municipality.

The clarification was provided by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr Kwame Governs Agbodza, on the floor of Parliament in response to questions on the progress of the projects.

According to the Minister, the contract for the Dzodze-Ehi-Agbozume road was awarded in 2016 and was expected to be completed by 2024.

He indicated, however, that physical progress of work currently stands at 41.2 per cent.

Mr Agbodza further explained that due to the contractor’s non-performance, the contract had been terminated.

He added that engineering design services would be undertaken for the remaining works for future consideration, subject to the availability of funds.

Commenting on the update, Mr Christian Tsifokor, Assembly Member for the Ehi-Biase Electoral Area, commended the Minister for what he described as a frank and transparent communication on the status of the project.

“This is an honest and transparent update from the Minister, and we appreciate the clarity he has provided,” he stated.

Mr Tsifokor stressed the need for urgent next steps, noting that the completion of the project was critical for residents.

He called for the swift completion of engineering designs, prioritisation and release of funds, and the award of the contract to a competent and committed contractor to ensure timely execution.

He acknowledged the frustrations of residents in Ehi and Dzodze over years of delays.

“We have waited far too long. From 2006 to 2016, then to 2024 and now, it has been a painful journey of promises, delays and disappointments,” he said.

Mr Tsifokor, however, said the latest development had provided a clearer direction for the project.

“Today, we have clarity. The old contract is gone, and a new path is being prepared,” he noted.

He reaffirmed the community’s resolve to continue advocating for the road project.
